Eugene Presley, Sr. of Pensacola passed away on New Year's Eve at 84 years old. Eugene was born on 2/1/1930 in Pensacola on "B" street just north of St Stephens Catholic Church and was a graduate of Catholic High School. In his younger years he played the accordion, played cards with friends and loved to dance. He was a humorous, kind-hearted, generous, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all he met. For many years, he worked as a City of Pensacola firefighter and retired as a captain. He had a state general contractor's license, worked for State Chemical of Ohio in chemical sales and was the CEO of EscaRosa Supply. He enjoyed pontoon boating along the inter-coastal shores close to Pensacola Beach. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Genevieve Nell and father Harry David Presley plus three wonderful elder Presley brothers, Harry Allen, Marion Ernest and Edward Hilburn and second wife Aliene Presley. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Marcia Phelps and her extended family; his son, Gene Presley, Jr., married to Patsy Dianne Balkum Presley; daughters, Susan Marie Hancock and Patricia Ann Presley; step children and extended family of Lea Pena, David James(dec'd) and Martha Paulsen family and many nieces and nephews. Other family survivors are granddaughters; Bethany Christine Griffin Knight, Candace Ashley Griffin and Amber Denise Swords, married to Brian Anthony Swords and two grandsons; Christopher Stevison and Eugene R. Presley, III plus 4 great grandchildren; James Coleman Stevison, John Christopher Knight, Katie Lynn Knight and Micah Jay Swords. Visitation will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, January 7, 2015 with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00am from the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart with Fr. James Valenzuela celebrant.
