IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evelyn Theresa
Dawkins
September 11, 1931 – February 7, 2018
Evelyn "Theresa" Dawkins, 86, of Pensacola passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. Theresa was born on September 11, 1931 in Caroleen, NC to Alva Miller Gladden and Vernice Evelyn Walters.
As a child, Theresa moved from mill town to mill town in the Carolina's and attended Rock Hill, SC High School. Theresa married Neil Dawkins and moved to Pensacola in 1959. She worked as a bookkeeper for 25 years, first for Bob Shield and later Pierre Brown retiring in 1985. Finding retirement boring, she joined her husband's business, All Florida Hearing Aid Centers and trained to be a Hearing Aid Specialist, attaining National Board Certified status a few years later. She operated the Fort Walton Beach office for 21 years and later our Pensacola office. She received great satisfaction helping her patients hear. In 2011, she retired due to health issues.
For a mill town girl she had a blessed life and never dreamed she would visit The Great Wall of China, Sistine Chapel, Louvre, Parthenon and Tower of Pisa. Her greatest satisfaction was making friends with her patients.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Nancy Elizabeth Marshall and Eva Francis Sermons; brother, Alva Miller "Sonny" Gladden, Jr. and her husband, Neil Winthrop Dawkins.
Theresa is survived by her sister, Marilu Allen of Rock Hill, SC; daughter, Sandra Elaine Sauer of Altamonte Springs, FL; son, Stephen Neil Dawkins (Barbara) of Pensacola, FL; grandson, Jeffrey T. Sauer of Melbourne, FL; granddaughter, Stephanie Woods of Altamonte Springs, FL; a great grandson, Trey Sauer of Melbourne, FL and great granddaughter, Amelia Woods of Altamonte Springs, FL.
