Evelyn Anne-Marie Fish, 67, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013. Evelyn was born in Munich, Germany on June 21, 1946 and immigrated to the United States in 1962. She became a naturalized citizen in 1962 and went to work for Delta Airlines as a stewardess during Delta's "Golden Years". After finishing nursing school, Evelyn embarked upon her life-long passion in medicine. In 1975, Evelyn met the love of her life, Winston. Having found a submariner with the approval of her father (his chief), they were married on September 5, 1975 at the Shepard of the Sea Chapel in Groton, CT. Thus began Evelyn's proud commitment to her family and her adopted country. Her only child, a daughter Colleen, would be born almost a year later in Groton. After several moves and her husband's eventual retirement from the Navy, Evelyn and her family joined her parents in Pensacola, FL. For 24 years Evelyn worked in the nursing field in Pensacola. Many families have been touched by the compassion and care that she provided, whether caring for infants in the NICU (Neo-natal Intensive Care) at Sacred Heart, or providing for her long-term care patients at Rosewood Manor. When not working, Evelyn enjoyed many of the simple things in life. She greatly enjoyed a beautiful sunny day that allowed for yard work and gardening. She was known for her many sewing projects; everything from clothes to curtains and decorations were in her to do list. Evelyn always had a special love in her heart for Christmas. Baking, decorating, and spending the holidays with her family, (especially her granddaughter Caroline), were always the highlight of her year. Evelyn had many loves in her life. Among them were her memories of Honolulu, HI (her first home in America), and Charleston, SC. Evelyn also had a great love of animals, but the most special in her eyes were her dogs. She always adopted from the shelters when she could, or took in strays. Her closet animal companion was Jack, who truly was her great friend and companion. Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved grandfather, Arno Neumeister; her cherished parents, Eva Ruth and Frank Patrie; and her little boy in a dog suit, Jack. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Winston; her daughter, Colleen Eva-Marie Lowe; granddaughter, Caroline Ruth-Marie Lowe and aunt, Sonja (Rick) White of Killeen, TX. Memorial services will be held 11:00am Friday, July 26, 2013 Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ken Griffin officiating.
