Frances Marjean Samples, 89, of Pensacola passed away on Monday, February 15, 2016 in her home, on the birthday of her deceased husband, Frank Samples. She passed away with her caregiver Darlene Adams and family friends, Parker and Spencer Barriball by her side. Marjean was born September 13, 1926 in Jay, FL. She lived with her husband, Frank Samples in Toledo Ohio from 1945 to 1975, when they returned to the area to live in Pensacola, FL. Frank and Marjean met in Pensacola while Frank was stationed there during World War II. They married in 1944 at First Presbyterian Church, where they remained faithful members of the congregation. Marjean served on the Congregational Care Committee and was devoted to the well being of elderly members for many years. In her community, she was an avid golfer with the Scenic Hills Ladies Golf Association.
Frank and Marjean had no children of their own but are survived none the less by the Barriball family; Craig, Carolyn, Parker and Spencer.
Marjean was the biggest fan of the boys during their high school sporting events. The relationship between them was one of surrogate family and both felt extremely blessed by the other throughout their lives.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Jay City Cemetery in Jay with Memorial Services to follow beginning at 2:00pm Thursday, February 18, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church in Pensacola with Rev. Frank Beall officiating.
