Franchen J. McArthur-Bobe, 89, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Franchen was born on April 30, 1937, in Washington Courthouse, OH. She graduated from Washington Senior High in 1955. Franchen was an Administrative Specialists for the FDA in Columbus, OH. She loved working as a pool instructor for the Arthritis Foundation in Washington Courthouse, OH. Her other hobbies included selling Avon and Jafra. Franchen loved being a sewing instructor for viking machines and teaching others how to quilt. She won awards for making beautiful quilts. Franchen loved traveling with the Red Haters Club. She was involved in the senior center in Pensacola. She loved playing hand & foot cards and more. She traveled on bus tours and going on cruises. Franchen’s real love was quilting and sewing along with planting flowers. She is a strong faithful Christian woman who loved the Lord. She was always determined and independent. She approached life with curiosity and a deep devotion to the people she loved. Those who knew her appreciated her humor and honesty and her family was always her source of her pride. She had the most beautiful smile and made everyone feel warm and welcome.

Franchen is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles E. McArthur; second husband, Thomas Bobe; as well as her brother, Philip D. Sanders.

Survivors include her children, Eric McArthur, Melanie McArthur (Dillon), and Anna Marie McArthur; grandchildren, Brooke Trombly, Danielle Wells, Christopher Dixon, and Jon Dixon; great granddaughter, Alexandria Dixon; and her sister, Sharma Harlan; as well as her pride and joy, Oberan “Obie” (her dachshund).

A Memorial Service will be held 1:00pm Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Craig Walker officiating. Burial will be in Bloomingburg Cemetery, Bloomingburg, OH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, 4400 Bayou Blvd., Suite 49A, Pensacola, FL 32503.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Baptist Hospital for taking such good care of Franchen.
