Frank Smythe Hughes was born September 19, 1941 in Jacksonville, FL. Frank passed away September 1, 2021 surrounded by loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Hughes; his brother, John Hughes; brother, Robert Hughes; sister, Mary Ann Murphy and his son, Frank Rowell Hughes.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Charles Hughes (Sheila) and Stacey Allen (Tom); grandchildren, Alexandra Allen, Thomas Chase Allen, and Katherine Allen all of Pensacola.

Frank graduated from Pensacola Catholic High School. After serving in the Air Force, Frank went on to graduate from the Florida State University School of Business and to earn his Master of Accountancy. After working for Arthur Andersen & Co., Frank took a position with Executive Centers of America before returning to his adopted hometown of Pensacola to establish his own firm where he practiced as a certified public accountant for 40 years. Frank loved going to work every day, serving his clients, and working with his wonderful staff.

Frank was a long-time member of St. Michael Catholic Church, a fervent FSU fan, and a student of history and politics. When not working, Frank enjoyed working out, walks with his loyal companion, Tank, and visiting with his neighbors.

The Rosary will be prayed 5:00 Tuesday evening at Harper - Morris Memorial Chapel.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00am, Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel in downtown Pensacola with, Very Reverend Joseph P. Callipare, celebrant. A  reception immediately following.

The family would like to thank everyone for their loving thoughts and many prayers and to especially thank Vicky Knott for her immeasurable dedication and friendship.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank's memory to the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel Endowment Fund or Alpha Center.
