Fred Putman passed away on August 28, 2022, peacefully in his home with his wife and children by his side.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Cleo and Ira Lee Putman, as well as his siblings; Welda Sue, Ron, and Preston Putman.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Brenda Putman; daughter, Toni Leston; son, Terry Putman; granddaughter, Alexandra Leston; and son-in-law, Robert Leston. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Rae Parrish, Cindy Junger, Linda Rabren, Geneva Putman, Charlene Putman and multiple nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and burial took place on August 30, 2022, with full military honors at Barrancas National Cemetery in recognition of his eight years of service in the United States Air Force.  Honorary pallbearers included Terry Putman, Jason Junger, and Robert Leston.

After his service in the Air Force, Fred became a Florida licensed optician, and founded Ideal Optical in Pensacola, FL in 1974 where he worked with his wife until they retired in 2012.  His son, Terry continues to run the business today.

Fred always appreciated the loyalty of his many generations of customers, who even today continue to inquire about him when visiting Ideal Optical. To the many family members and friends who have expressed their thoughts and prayers during Fred's illness, we will always be grateful.
