Obituary

Freddie Carlton Briggs, Jr., 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Freddie was born on June 26, 1943 in Pensacola, FL. He retired after 23 years of service in the US Navy as Senior Chief Petty Officer and after 20 years as a letter carrier in the US Postal Service. He was heavily involved in the Catholic Church and Freemasonry demonstrating his dedication and loyalty to God, Country, and tradition. As a true beachcomber, Freddie had a love for fishing, boating, water sports, and annual mullet fish fries. His love for woodwork became gifts for all.

Freddie is preceded in death by his parents, Freddie Carlton Briggs, Sr. and Rosemary Remich Briggs.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Beasley Briggs; their two sons, Freddie Briggs, III (Laura) and Christopher Briggs; his granddaughter, Jessica Briggs; his great-grandson, Keefer Wilson; his siblings, Margie Brock (Lamar), Mary Farris (Rick), James Briggs (Janet), and Louise Vandercar (Alan). He is remembered as an immensely caring, generous, and wholesome husband, father, pawpaw, and friend.

Visitation will be held 4:45pm – 7:00pm Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with rosary and Order of the Eastern Star service to begin at 4:45pm. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30am Friday, September 21, 2018 Holy Spirit Catholic Church, with Fr. Tom Collins celebrant. Burial will follow at 1:00pm at Barrancas National Cemetery, with full military honors and Masonic Rites.
