Obituary

Frederick Harrison Billhorn Jr., 90, died Tuesday, December 22, 2020 with his family by his side.

Fred was born February 24, 1930 in Little Rock, AR to Frederick and Fern Billhorn, later moving to Monroe, LA where he grew up.

Fred's business career started at an early age with a paper route. This would be the beginning of a career in the paper industry as both an entrepreneur and business owner. He graduated from Ouachita Parish High School, and then joined the US Air Force, serving in Japan during the Korean War. Following the Air Force Fred returned to Monroe and met the love of his life, Jane Coats, with whom he was married for 63 years and raised three children.

For years, Fred's career moved the family throughout the country finally returning to Monroe in 1970, where shortly thereafter he founded MISCO Paper Converters.

Fred was passionate about good food, hearty exercise, books, the outdoors, a good glass of bourbon, and a nice cigar. One of his greatest pleasures in life was being a private pilot. Fred owned several airplanes and frequently flew friends and family around the country.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Jane Billhorn and his brother, Gale Keith Billhorn.

He leaves behind his sons, Jay Frederick Billhorn (Kris) and Jeffrey Harrison Billhorn; daughter, Ginger "GiGi" Peterson (Steve); grandchildren, Sarah Jane Billhorn, Harrison Billhorn, Amy Peterson and Jay Peterson; as well as his constant companion, Scout.
