Obituary

Gary Edward Lovelace went to be with his son, Todd Elliott Lovelace, at 3:11am on Sunday, October 8, 2023. He was 80 years old. His friend and loyal dog, Milo, passed 12 hours later.

Gary was born in Pensacola on Halloween in 1942. He attended and graduated from Pensacola High School before attending, University of West Florida, Southern Mississippi University, and the University of Florida.

In 1969, he married Bronwyn Turner. Together they had three sons: Daniel Jeffrey Lovelace, Todd Elliott Lovelace, and Drew Collins Lovelace.

Gary worked for the Pensacola News Journal for close to a decade. He then owned New South Press for 10 years until he found his calling as a manufacturer's representative in the corrugated box industry. He worked for Wagner Industries of Frackville, Pennsylvania for close to 35 years.

Gary enjoyed many hobbies. He loved to read about history and enjoyed fictional crime novels. He loved traveling and photography. He was a passionate fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Florida Gators. He loved every single dog he ever owned and the dogs of his children. He enjoyed watching any TV show that had the letters "CSI or NCIS." He loved Jeopardy, 60 Minutes and South Park as well.

He will be remembered for his kindness and his generosity. He had a contagious laugh that could be heard from long distances and a sense of humor that was light and playful. He was a father, a friend, and a mentor. He will be greatly missed.

Gary is preceded in death by his father, Wilson Dempsey Lovelace; mother, Frances Crabtree Lovelace; son, Todd Elliott Lovelace; sister, Sandra Lovelace Quimby, and nephew, Ben Quimby.

Gary is survived by his two sons, Daniel Lovelace (Kelly) and Drew Lovelace; two grandsons, Elliott and Graeme Lovelace, and his nephews, John, David, Joey, and Matthew Quimby.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at First United Methodist Church. A reception will follow at the Wright Place.
