Obituary

Gary Boyd Reimer, of Pensacola, FL passed on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, after 91 happy and productive years.

Gary was born the only child to beloved parents, Evelyn and Elmer Reimer in Des Moines, IA on February 27, 1934. He enjoyed many interesting summer jobs in his youth serving as rogue-corn spotter on the farm or delivering milk trucks from Texas to Iowa admittedly racing the seatless wonders against other delivery drivers on the brand-new interstate highways. At twenty-two, he wed college sweetheart, Lyn, and embarked on a decades-long career with the US Air Force JAG Corps rotating through bases in Alaska, Germany, Colorado and the Philippines. By the time the family settled in Northern Virginia, Gary and Lyn had raised three girls who were, as Garisson Keillor would say, "above-average." Gary retired from his last assignment at the pentagon in 1981. He then worked briefly as a lobbyist in D.C. before returning to his declared home state of Colorado where he loved to ski. He continued his work supporting military personnel and retirees while also helping civilians with a wide range of civil litigation needs. When the kids had flown the nest, he and Lyn resumed their travels. Sometimes, they headed to the mountains with pet goldfish "Snack" in the sink of the RV, and other times boarded ship for a European river cruise with cocktails in hand. Now, united by shared faith, they've traveled to heaven. Gary is preceded in death by his wife Lynette Helen (2016).

He is survived by their three daughters, Ruanne Ewing (J.C.), Ronna Craig (David), and Robin Reimer (Paul); five grandchildren; and a passel of great-grandchildren.

A committal service will be held 1:30pm Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Barrancas National Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the US Air Force. Due to NAS Base Security, for those wishing to attend, a funeral cortege will depart Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 1:00pm sharp.
