IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gene
Borcz
September 22, 1949 – March 28, 2025
Eugene R. "Gene" Borcz, 75, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, surrounded by those he cherished the most.
Gene was a native Floridian, born in Miami, FL, to the late Eugene J. Borcz and Helena T. (Kozlowski) Borcz, and reared in Miami Springs, where he attended Blessed Trinity Catholic school, Archbishop Curley-Notre Dame high school, and became a 1967 graduate of Miami Springs high school.
A proud veteran, Gene served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, and was stationed at Hurlburt Field, FL, where he met his wife of 54 years, Gerry. After their marriage, he joined the Miami Springs Police Department, earning his bachelor's (Florida International University), master's (Biscayne College), and most of his doctorate while working as a MSPD Sergeant.
Gene started his nearly 30-year career in financial services when he and Gerry moved to the Florida Panhandle and he joined the investment firm of AG Edwards & Son in Panama City, FL. During his eight years in the PC branch office, Gene was the voice of the weekday noon stock market report on the local radio station.
He then moved to Pensacola, FL, in 1988, to become the manager of the AG Edwards branch there, and for many years contributed the daily stock market report as part of WEAR TV's 3 In The Morning show.
As a young man, Gene was an incredible athlete, fearless, funny, and smart, who valued love, honesty, and humor, and those values stayed with him to the end. He was many things to many people - friend, neighbor, coworker, boss, golf buddy, hunting buddy, fishing buddy, dad, grandfather, and husband. He was always strong, always steady, and ever generous with his time and talent.
Gene loved family, was fiercely loyal to them and always ready to help and protect them. His final days were a testament to a life well-lived.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and survived by his loving wife, Gerry; their two children, Jason Borcz (Veronica) and Stacy Tylavsky (Michael) both of Pensacola, FL; his grandchildren, Jason Borcz Jr. (Lauren) of Slidell, LA, Aiden Tylavsky of Starkville, MS, and Aubrey Tylavsky of Stillwater, OK; as well as great-grandson, Jason Borcz III of Slidell, LA.
A memorial visitation will be held from 9:30 am until a memorial service begins at 10:30 am Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.
A funeral procession will leave Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 11:00 am to go to Barrancas National Cemetery for a graveside service at 11:30 am on Friday, April 18, 2025.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Mike Tylavsky, an amazing son-in-law who's a dependable, caring, generous, and thoughtful man, one always willing to help whenever and wherever needed; dear friends, Dr. Jim Cox and Dr. Jeff St. Amant for sharing their knowledge and loving support; the medical communities of Sacred Heart and Baptist hospitals; Dr. Benjamin Lloyd, along with Norma Pruitt RN and Shawna Mamula RN; Emerald Coast Hospice, including Jackie Hayes RN, Amanda Byrne RN, Sarah Frank MSW, and Charnavia Lewis CNA; NurseSpring of Pensacola, including Jan Gordon RN, Rebecca Ryann Fink, Dorothea Powell, Melynda McCarthy, and Debora Graves.
