After multiple health battles making him the bionic man, George S. Hirst, 69, of Pensacola, FL passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023, after losing his latest battle with Mesothelioma.

George was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 10, 1954, later moving to Pensacola, FL in 1982 to work at AAMCO Transmissions. Wanting his own business, he founded Hirst Transmissions Specialists in 1996. After leading his business to great success, he passed the business to his son, Stephen Hirst in 2019 where the company continues to flourish. George was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoyed gardening, giving to others, sharing his passions in life, living life to the fullest, and of course was always ready for a good party full of family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Hirst and his father, George Hirst.

Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Hirst; daughter, Heather Hirst Jones (Ryan); son, Stephen Hirst (Stephanie); four grandchildren, Jake, Wyatt, Bronwen, and Phillie; his brother, Daniel Hirst (Kitty); as well as three sisters, Kathy Barrett, Terry O'Neill, and Christine Gach (Joe).

Visitation will be held from 10:00am until a Memorial Service begins at 11:00am Friday, January 12, 2024, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Fr. Jack Campbell officiating.
