George Robert Olliff, Sr., 84, of Pensacola, FL passed away Monday, December 12, 2011. Mr. Olliff was born on January 12, 1927 in Statesboro, GA and has resided in Pensacola for the past 57 years. He was a graduate of Emory University and was a US Navy veteran of WWII. He retired from Beggs & Lane Law Firm after 30 years. In recognition of his service, the firm established the George R. Olliff Award to be given at such time to an employee who demonstrated qualities exemplified by Mr. Olliff. He was a kind and caring christian man, a true southern gentleman. He was a role model for living and a role model for dying. He was our best friend and he will be missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Olliff; a sister, Helen Weldon and a brother, Ed Olliff. Survivors include his wife, Betty; a daughter, Julie Olliff (Griff) Vickery; a son, Bob (Janet) Olliff; two grandchildren, Brett Olliff and Kristen Olliff; a brother, Charles; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Olliff; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Memorial Service will be held 2:00pm Saturday, December 17, 2011 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Wesley Wachob and Rev. Geoffrey Lentz officiating. Private family burial will be at Bayview Memorial Park prior to services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Living Trust, First United Methodist Church, 6 E.
