Obituary

George Glenn Stacks, 77, of Pensacola, FL passed away Monday, May 5, 2014. Mr. Stacks was born in Birmingham, AL on October 27, 1936 to Laura (Stiles) and Robert Stacks. He was a Superintendent for an Industrial Coating Company. George was the first one to paint the Pensacola Beach Water tower like a beach ball. Mr. Stacks built his own 40' shrimp boat and was a shrimper for a few years. He was also an avid mullet fisherman and outdoorsman. He was most proud of being a grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, John Glenn Stacks; 2 brothers, James Edward Stacks and Ronald Gary Stacks as well as 2 sisters, Helen Presley and Pat Moore. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Sara; 3 daughters, Rita Stacks (Paul Blake), Linda Stacks and Sue Moniz; a son, Matt Stacks (Mary Michelle); his devoted and caring sister, Sue Handley (Mitchell Handley) and also sister, Brenda Blane (Billy Blane); grandchildren, Jacob Blake, Kelsey Stacks-Blake, Demery Stacks and Jude Patrick Stacks. Visitation will be held from 1-2pm Friday, May 9, 2014 with a Memorial service following at 2pm from Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 5200 Bayou Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32503. The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Edward Freidland and Dr. Jay Erickson.
