Obituary

George Maxwell Threadgill, aged 89, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, and returned peacefully to his Lord.

Born in Mobile, Alabama, George moved to Pensacola, Florida, at an early age, where he attended Pensacola High School, graduated from Pensacola Junior College, and attended Auburn University. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

From his early days, George was imbued with an entrepreneurial spirit, having learned the dry-cleaning business from his father. He successfully owned and operated multiple establishments including G's Cleaners and Saufley Field Laundry. George later expanded his business acumen into the petroleum industry, where he significantly grew a wholesale company that operated convenience stores and supplied fuel across the Gulf Coast.

George leaves behind a legacy of love and perseverance, marked by his dedication to his family and his business. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward F. "Pops" and Rosa Max Dulaney Threadgill; his brothers, Edward and David; and his grandson, Gregory Paul.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Linda Gregory Threadgill; his brother, Tom (Bonnie); his children, Debbie, Matt (Sonja), Greg (Celeste), Jennifer, and Jonathan (Katie); as well as ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

An avid golfer and tennis player, George was frequently found on the golf course or with the 'under the hill' league. In his later years, he cherished watching sunsets along Perdido Bay with his wife.
