Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" LaFlamme, Sr., age 87, of Pensacola, FL, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 following an extended illness. Jerry was born on May 5, 1934 in Bartlett, New Hampshire to the late Philip and Irene Thompson LaFlamme. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Doreen Zadnik and a brother, Charles LaFlamme.

Jerry was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was of the catholic faith and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he was a past member of the Parish Council. Jerry proudly served his country in the US Navy where he retired after 24 years of honorable service as a Senior Chief Petty Officer (E8). During his service to our country, he flew combat missions during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retiring from the Navy, he held a position as General Manager at the N.W. Florida YMCA. Jerry graduated from the University of West Florida with a bachelors degree and was a proud Alumni. He always had a loving heart and enjoyed serving his community, he served as a Foster Father for Catholic Social Services for 17 years. He served as a sports official, refereeing at the local high school, college and local clubs. He was a March Madness fanatic! He was always pulling for the underdog and was also a big Florida Gators Fan. He left a legacy and will forever be missed by all that knew him and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include, his loving wife of 63 years, Anne LaFlamme; five sons, James LaFlamme, Gerald (Jerry) LaFlamme II (Kim), Greg LaFlamme, Brian LaFlamme and Glen LaFlamme (Diana); one brother, Wayne LaFlamme; ten grandchildren, Mechelle, Brittany, Logan, Ian, Rey, Jacob, Conor, Adam, Luke and Dalton.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with a Rosary being prayed at 5:30 PM until 6:00 PM.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday March 31, 2022 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 401 Van Pelt Lane, Pensacola, with Fr. Eugene Pathe and Fr. Dominic Phan Sa, celebrants. Committal service will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with Military Honors being accorded by the US Navy. Active pallbearers will be as follows, Ian LaFlamme, Adam LaFlamme, Dalton LaFlamme, Logan LaFlamme and Conor LaFlamme.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff of The Haven of Our Lady of Peace Nursing Home and to Bethany Clendennin of Home Instead for all the loving care shown to Jerry.
