Obituary

Gladys Grace Goss, 88, of Pensacola, FL passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024.

Gladys affectionately known as "GG" was born in Wilkinsburg, PA on November 7, 1936, to Grace May (Numer) and Stephen John Sekra. She grew up in Turtle Creek, PA. After graduating from Turtle Creek High School, she worked as a secretary with Westinghouse. GG met her future husband, Richard Goss at Electric Heights Methodist Church. Their first child was born, Charles Edward Goss, and the family moved overseas to Egland where Richard worked for Rolls Royce for nine months. They were able to tour Europe, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, France and Monaco. They returned to the United States where their daughter, Carol was born three years later. Richard working for Westinghouse was transferred to Pensacola. GG decided to go to college and received her associates degree from PJC, and then see went to UWF where she received a bachelor's and master's degree in education. She worked for the Escambia County School District as a Special Education teacher and later as a staffing specialist. The 90's was a hard time for GG with the loss of her husband, mother-in-law, and son. She then moved to Pensacola Beach where she met new and wonderful friends. She retired in 1999, and in 2001 moved to Alaska to be close to her daughter and her husband, Jason Widman as well as her new granddaughter, Christine Grace, and in 2003 her grandson, Ahren Edward was born. GG loved living in Alaska watching her grandchildren grow up, she felt blessed, and it was priceless. She felt the years in Alaska were the happiest of her life. Many enjoyments she had in Alaska were fishing, hiking, kayaking, working with the Anchorage Visitor Center, and with the Iditarod trail sled dog race. In 2012, she decided to move back to Pensacola with her daughter and her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Edward Goss and son, Charles Edward Goss.

GG is survived by her daughter, Carol Widman (Jason); granddaughter, Christina Grace Widman and grandson, Ahren Edward Widman.
