Gladys Blue Marie Tolson died at Select Specialty Hospital on November 17, 2010. She was the daughter of Gus Blue and Virginia Wilkinson, and the youngest of 12 children. She was born and raised in Baker, FL., and attended Baker High School. She went on to earn her R.N. degree at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. In 1953, Blue married Richard Dick M. Tolson, LCDR, of Houstonia, MO. They went on to have two boys. As a devoted navy wife, she traveled the world, working as a nurse, mother and homemaker, living in Texas, California, Missouri, Japan and Florida. She was an active member of Christ Church. After her children were grown, Blue enjoyed traveling the world with Dick, going to such places as: Thailand, Greece, Egypt, China, Mexico and Italy. Blue had good family, good friends and good dogs. She is survived by her husband, her son and daughter-in-law, Dirk and Mel Tolson of Augusta, GA., her son Mark Tolson of Washington, DC, and her grandchildren Zoe Hickerson and Adam Tolson of Augusta, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that donations be made to the Florida Dachshund Rescue, Inc. (fldr.org) or the Pensacola Breast Cancer Association (pensacolabreastcancer.org).
