Gladys Josefina Torres de Escobar passed away on March 3, 2024, peacefully at her home in Guanare, Venezuela.
She was born on January 13,1942, in Guanare, Venezuela, where she was married to Santos Escobar and raised her three children - Tadeo, Glasan, and Alejandra.
Gladys was a strong woman and proud mother, who led her family with grace and unconditional love. She graduated with a degree in elementary school education and taught in public schools for more than twenty years. She is remembered by former pupils as Maestra Gladys. She was a dedicated Catholic who prayed the Rosary and Divine Mercy prayer every afternoon. She enjoyed celebrating family holidays by cooking Venezuelan dishes and singing boleros. In her later years, Gladys moved to Pensacola, FL, and lived with her daughter, Alejandra. There she was a devoted member of St. Paul Catholic Church and member of the Spanish Rosary Club.
Gladys was preceded in death by her mother, Romelia Torres; father, Miguel Quiñones; brother, Coromoto Torres; and sister, Maribel Romero. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all her family but especially by her children Tadeo (Belkys), Glasan (Nelson), and Alejandra (Mark). Her grandchildren Tomás, Ariana, Gabriel, Matthew, Aranza, and Emily will always remember and be comforted by her nightly blessing.
Friends and family will gather at 11:00 am, Sunday, March 10, 2024, for Mass at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Pensacola, FL, to honor and celebrate Gladys's life.
