Obituary

Glen Edward Hensley, 75, passed away Saturday morning, July 12, 2025, in Pensacola, Florida. He was in the arms of his wife and his two children at the time of his death.

Glen was born on July 18, 1949 in Dallas, Texas, and was active in various athletic activities during his time at Oak Cliff High School. Glen graduated with a BA in finance from the University of Texas, Austin, and was found to be ineligible for the draft due to athletic injuries. He nevertheless felt the call to serve his country, and served as an officer and aviator in the United States Marine Corps from 1972 - 1979, including one tour of duty in the Vietnam Conflict. He went on to serve as a search and rescue aviator and aircraft commander with the United States Coast Guard from 1983 until his retirement from the Armed Forces in 1993 after 20 years of honorable service. He obtained his masters degree in clinical counseling from Colorado Christian University in 1996. During his retirement, his continued employment included working as a behavioral health professional, and in real estate sales. He also remained deeply fascinated and moved by aviation throughout his life.

Although declining health concerns affected him during his retirement, he never permitted those limitations to dim his commitment to meaningful relationships with his immediate and extended family, as well as providing a source of support and positive modeling for many of his children's close friends. He loved being on the water, boating, fishing, and long walks on the beach with his beloved wife Karen. He loved music - both live and recorded - passionately, loved good food and companionship, and never stopped seeking out new experiences with those he loved, particularly his two grandchildren.

We also always, always had dogs in the home. He would want me to mention that.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, his older brother, and many close friends.

He is survived by the rest of those that he loved.
