Glendon Joel Etheridge, 90, passed away on October 16, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, cherished memories, and a legacy of hard work, faith, and devotion to family.

Glendon, affectionately known as “G.J.,” was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Joyce, and a loving father to Joyia, Randall, Michael, and Jill. Above all else, he was a family man who took great pride in providing for those he loved and being there whenever they needed him.

A man of strong Baptist faith, Glen lived his life guided by the principles of kindness, generosity, honesty, and service to others. He was the kind of man who would drop everything to help someone in need and would gladly give the shirt off his back to someone who needed it more. He never met a stranger, always had a story to tell, and possessed a natural charm and quick wit that stayed with him until his final days.

Glen spent his working years as a union pipefitter and plumber, taking great pride in his trade and the value of an honest day’s work. His skills extended far beyond his profession, as he was a talented craftsman who could build, repair, or fix just about anything. He believed in doing things the right way and passed that work ethic, along with countless life lessons, down through the generations of his family.

He was also a proud member of the Masons, Scottish Rite, and Hadji Temple Shriners. Glen helped build the Hadji Shrine Temple and continued maintaining its plumbing for many years. The Shriners’ mission of helping children held a particularly special place in his heart, reflecting the compassion and generosity that defined his life.

When he wasn’t working or lending a helping hand, Glen enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved mullet fishing, planting vegetable gardens, and woodworking. Whether he was tending to his garden, creating something with his hands, or sharing his knowledge with someone eager to learn, he found joy in staying busy and making himself useful.

But of all the things that brought him happiness, nothing compared to the love he had for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He treasured the time spent with them, sharing stories, teaching them new skills, and creating memories that will be carried forward for generations. To his grandchildren, he was more than a grandfather. He was a hero, a teacher, a role model, and a shining example of what it means to be a good man.

Glen was blessed with 90 years of life, but to those who loved him, no amount of time could ever have been enough. His family was fortunate to have his wisdom, guidance, and unwavering love for so many years. His presence was a constant source of strength, and the lessons he taught through both his words and actions will continue to shape the lives of those he leaves behind.

Throughout his final days, his devoted wife, Joyce, remained faithfully by his side, a beautiful testament to the love and commitment they shared.

While his passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family and friends, his legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the lives he touched, and the countless memories he helped create.

Glendon Joel Etheridge will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, a faithful servant of God, a hardworking craftsman, and a man who never hesitated to help others. His hands built and repaired many things throughout his lifetime, but his greatest accomplishment was the family he loved and the lasting foundation he built for generations to come.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, October 30, 2026 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
