January 10, 1939 – July 17, 2019
On July 17, 2019, Gordon Thomas Kampert, age 80 of Gulf Breeze, FL, passed away peacefully at home. He followed his wife of 58 years, Carol Lee Kampert (Hauser) who predeceased him by 48 hours.
Gordon served as a pilot in both the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Coast Guard where his service took him all over the world including Germany, Thailand, Vietnam, the United Kingdom, and Puerto Rico as well as several states. Gordon loved his family, animals – especially his last dog, Shadow – and living on Florida's Gulf Coast where he loved the beach, fishing, good seafood, and watching the Blue Angels. His surviving family is grateful for the extraordinary kindness of their neighbors who helped and supported Gordon and Carol any way they could, day or night.
He is survived by his son Jeffrey; his son, Elliot (Peggy); his daughter, Diana (Matthew Keelean); his sister-in-law, Donna Kott (Ed) of Bethel Park, PA., and four grandchildren, Ryan, Zachary, Samantha, and Ian, most of whom were present at his passing.
Visitation will be 12:00noon until the Funeral Service at 1:00pm on Friday, July 19, 2019 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Msgr. Luke Hunt officiating. A private, family burial will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in the name of Gordon Kampert.
