Gordon Ray Knoll, 77, of Ft. Walton Beach, FL passed away Monday, April 29, 2013. Mr. Knoll was born and raised on a farm in Holland, MI on October 1, 1935. He graduated from Holland High School in 1953, and worked for A J Heinz for a year before enlisting in the Air Force where he worked as a weather watcher in several countries in Europe. In 1962 he graduated Trine University in Angola, IN with a BSEE. He accepted a job with ARAMCO and spent the next 17 years building schools and laying pipe line in Saudi Arabia. In 1988 he brought a farm in Alabama and raised catfish and fruit, returning to his love of farming, while working with the Alabama DOC. In 2000 he retired and enjoyed traveling, cruising and his love of fishing. Mr. Knoll was preceded in death by his parents and all of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Betty Knoll of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; daughter, Elena Enzweiler (Ron) of Walnut Creek, CA; son, David A. Knoll (Mary Beth) of Sacramento, CA ; four grandchildren, Nick, Dan, Lizzy and Dax all of CA; sister-in-law, Mary Knoll of Holland, MI and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 10:30am Monday, May 6, 2013 with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:30am at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Ken Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice Ft. Walton Beach, 220 Eglin Pkwy., Ft. Walton Beach, FL 32547.
