Gordon Marrell Moore, age 72, retired part owner of Gator Distributors, died Monday November 23rd, 2009 following a heart attack. He was born March 11, 1937 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Avis Roberts Moore and Marrell Moore. He attended West End High School in Birmingham, graduating in 1956. Gordon then attended the University of Alabama on a baseball scholarship and served in the Air National Guard during the Berlin Crisis of 1961. Gordon then worked with the Clow Corporation and then went on to become part owner of a beverage distributorship, Gator Distributors. He was on a former member of the board of directors of the Pensacola Sports Association, a former member of the board of directors of Fiesta of Five Flags and on the board of directors of Pensacola Country Club. When he was not assisting the running of Gator Distributors, and after retiring he could usually be found on (or near) the 18th hole of the Pensacola Country Club golf course, the Men's Grill, or watching and following University of Alabama football. Gordon Moore is survived by his wife Janet; two children Brian Moore (Eileen) and Jennifer LeMaster (Tommy); and seven grandchildren, Amber and Amanda Marcanio; Mallory and Mackenzie Marcanio, of Gulf Breeze Erin, Thomas and Charlotte Moore of Navarre; sister Brenda Day (Gordon) and brother Bud Moore (Suzanne). Funeral services for Gordon Moore will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Boulevard, Pensacola, Florida and the burial will be held at Bayview Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Charles Mullins, Dr. Mike Jasper, Dr. Wayne Campbell, Matt Moore, Bob Richardson, Don Rushing, Jim Finch and Don Livingston. The honorary pallbearers will be the "Thursday Golf Group". In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 4400 Bayou Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32503.
