Gunvor "Gwen" Hanson of Shalimar, FL passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 7, 2024, with family by her side.
Gwen was born in Beitstad, Norway to the parents of Nicolay Martens and Ellinor Rasmusen. Gwen was a wonderful, devoted military wife to her husband, Bobby L. Hanson, Sr. and an incredible mother to her four boys, Richard E. Hanson, Bobby L. Hanson, II, Royce E. Hanson and Craig S. Hanson.
Gwen was a great adventurer that spoke five languages and loved to travel. She toured throughout Europe and Scandinavia. She traveled the world to places such as sailing around the Horn of Africa in 30-foot seas, walking with the penguins in Antarctica, boated up the Amazon River, walked the Great Wall of China, went on Tiger Photo Safari by elephants in Nepal and toured the Taj Mahal in India. In Cologne Germany while watching a riot she enjoyed a pizza with a glass of wine, and while having a peaceful waterfront lunch in New Zealand she watched the American military ships use fire hoses on protestors attempting to cause damage.
When Gwen was at home in Shalimar, FL and not at the NASCAR races, she enjoyed working with her friends for Hertz at the Valparaiso Airport. At times they would all meet for breakfast, lunch or dinner and share memories and the antics of their work. Gwen lived a full and remarkable life. She was always there offering to help friends and family.
Gwen is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby L. Hanson, Sr.; and sons, Richard E. Hanson and Bobby L. Hanson, II.
Survivors include her sons, Royce Hanson (Jennifer) and Craig Hanson (Teresa); her grandson, Bobby L. Hanson, III (Tracy); twin granddaughters, Harper Hanson and Camilla Hanson; her grandson, Jason Hanson (Melissa); great-grandsons, Jason Hanson, II and Alex Hanson; great-granddaughter, Victoria Hanson; grandson, Jeremy Hanson; great-grandsons, Marcylo Hanson and Elijah Hanson; great-granddaughter, Lexi Hanson; as well as Gwen's loving rescue dog, Molly.
