IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hank
Bishop
October 26, 1945 – December 18, 2019
Henry A. Bishop, also known as "Hank" or "Papaw", came into this world on October 26, 1945 in East Meadow, NY as the youngest of 13 children to George and Theresa Bishop. He left this earth to become our guardian angel on Wednesday, December 18, 2019.
Hank proudly served in the US Navy for 27 years. Once retired, he continued to work as a civilian in several capacities. He was an avid traveler, visiting many countries, loved exploring and being outdoors. Hunting, fishing, grilling, tinkering, cooking, watching Nascar races, and rooting for the Washington Redskins were some of his favorite hobbies. He was the ultimate doer. There was nothing that he could not fix or make with his cool gadgets.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Kopfman, Anne Cahill, Bertha Betz and brothers, William and Donald Bishop.
Hank is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Gloretta; two sons, Todd (Mary) and Tim (Sandy); sisters, Karen Colella, Lillian Earley, Mildred Lucarelli, and Claire Smith; a brother, George; three grandchildren, Jordan, Bijou, and Beckett; as well as several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held 8:30am until a Funeral Service at 9:30am Friday, December 27, 2019 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with full Navy honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Always a smile on his face and love in his heart, he will be missed more than words can describe. The world got lucky the day he was born and his family will be forever grateful for all of the love and kindness he gave.
