Obituary

Hans Johan Felix, 73, passed away in Pensacola, Florida on Friday, February 5, 2016. He was a devoted husband and father who was selfless, loved by all, and will be deeply missed.

He was born in Haarlem, The Netherlands, and immigrated to this country with his family at the age of 12. He graduated from Oakland High School in Oakland, California, and received a Bachelors in Civil Engineering and a Masters in Structural Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. While in graduate school and working for the State of California, he completed the main structural design work for the Coronado Bay Bridge in Coronado, California.

He and his wife, Jayne Parker Felix, moved to Pensacola in 1971 when he took a job as the Assistant City Engineer. He became the City Engineer in 1976, holding that position until 2003. He loved his job and was responsible for many projects throughout our city, including Pitt Slip, Palafox
Street, Airport Blvd, Spanish Trail, Carpenter's Creek Bridge, and numerous other endeavors in Pensacola.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Cornelia Felix, and his brother, John Felix.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jayne Parker Felix of Pensacola; daughter, Caroline Felix Huff and husband Marc of Pensacola; son, Andrew Parker Felix and fiancé Alison Marie Skipper of Orlando; sister-in-law Jo Parker Winford and husband Peter of Harpersville, Alabama; and mother-in-law, Lois Harrison Parker.

As a teenager, he received Christ as his personal savior during a Billy Graham crusade. He relied on 1 Peter 5:7, "Cast all your anxiety on the Lord because he cares for you," as his life verse. He loved the Lord throughout his life and was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Trinity Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends with reception after the service in the church parlor.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen at loavesandfishessoupkitchen.com or to Trinity Presbyterian Church General Memorial Fund, 3400 Bayou Blvd, Pensacola, Florida 32503.
