Harold Herbert Milstead, 90, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016. Harold was born on May 10, 1925 in McDavid, FL to Frank and Mattie (Agerton) Milstead.
At the tender age of 16, Harold joined the Army/Air Force and finished boot camp on December 6, 1941. On December 7, 1941, he joined fellow soldiers heading to the Pacific where he proudly did his part to keep the world free. He dedicated 30 years to the United States Air Force (CMSGT) and in his travels met his lovely Irish Rose of 60 years, Sarah Boylan. Their marriage produced 7 children and 11 grandchildren.
Harold loved gardening, reading, history (he received his B.A. degree in history from UWF in 1978) and trips to Biloxi casinos with his wife and devoted daughter, Christina. He supported causes close to his heart, including the VFW and Disabled American Veterans. Harold was of the Catholic faith and was a kind and loving husband and father.
We miss him too much for words. We love you forever and will never forget you, Dad.
Harold was preceded in death by his son, John and grandson, Charles.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah; daughters, Christina, Colleen (Vaughan), Patricia (Belliveau), Maria (Prusa) and sons, Edward and Terence. His grandchildren, Andrew Milstead, Sean, Ashley and Joseph Belliveau, Penn and Amber Vaughan, Alyson, Emma and Ella Prusa and William Coxwell, Patrick Burns along with 2 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 12pm (noon) on Thursday, February 4, 2016 with a Rosary being prayed at 1pm from Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Private family services follows at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Care (Hospice), 5041 N. 12th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504.
