Hazel Evers went to be with the Lord and her heavenly family on December 3, 2018.

She was born in Colorado Springs, CO on Feb 19, 1929, went to Central High School in Memphis, TN and graduated from a private girl's college in Biloxi, MS. She was previously married to Robert L. "Bob" Bates for 54 years.

Surviving her are husband, John Evers; her two children, Barbara Bates Huey (Louis) and Robert L. "Bobby" Bates III; two grandchildren, Michael Huey (Rebecca, great-grandson, Luke Huey) and Tanner Huey Vlasic (Petar).

Hazel had lived in Pensacola for the last 25 years. A few years after having lost Bob to cancer, she met and married John Evers of Cullman, AL who had also just lost his wife of many years. They had a great time traveling around the US in a fabulous RV, adventuring on cruises to beautiful destinations and enjoying life in Pensacola. John, being an Auburn graduate, influenced Hazel to the Orange and Blue ways. They both were enthusiastic "War Eagle" fans following the team every season. In these last years, John has been a true angel, caring for Hazel so that she was able to remain at home. Hazel also had another beloved caretaker and protector, "Tiger", her faithful little yorkie who never left her side. Hazel also had many good friends she had made throughout her life.

Hazel Ann, Hazel, Mom, Nan, as we all knew her, will be missed greatly by her family, and never be forgotten. May she rest in the sweetest peace.

Funeral cortege will depart Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 11:00am for a Committal Service at 11:30am Friday, December 7, 2018 at Barrancas National Cemetery, with Fr. Walt Kindergan officiating.
