Hazel Inez (Burns) Russell, age 91, of Pensacola, FL went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, April 26, 2015. Born in Florence, AL on February 19, 1924, Mrs. Russell lived most of her adult life in Pensacola. She was a beloved employee of the Driftwood Restaurant in downtown Pensacola for over 40 years. She was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church for many years, but later became a member of Gadsden St. United Methodist Church. She was known for her extraordinary culinary skills, her love for her family and the strength of spirit she so willingly shared with others in times of difficulty. She helped countless numbers of children and grandchildren with their schooling, always with the desire to help them become people of strong moral character who possessed good etiquette skills. Her legacy of love, forgiveness, compassion, service and kindness is well known to all who knew her, and will be carried on by those who she so powerfully and wonderfully impacted throughout her life. Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Roy E. Russell. She is survived by her four children; Jimmie Sue Arbo (Saraland, AL), Brenda Maddera (Lawton, OK), Terri Ann (Hannah) May (Panama City, FL) and David Lundy Russell (Charlotte, NC). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held 1:00pm until the Funeral Service at 2:00pm Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Gadsden St. United Methodist Church. Rev. Bobby Ellisor and Pastor Kevin Oakes will be officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. The family requests consideration of donations to Covenant Hospice.
