After a valiant fight with cancer, Hazel Marjorie James James Jones, 82, of Pensacola passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2010. She now sings her faithful praises directly to Jesus himself. Hazel's heavenly trip home follows many family members; her husband, Stanley E. Jones, Sr., parents J.C. (Jimmy) and Lallie Pharr James, sisters Myrtle and Montez and brothers Lorris, Winston and Duward. Hazel lived an exciting life starting in Castleberry, AL in 1927. As a Navy wife, she traveled the globe before finally settling down in Pensacola. She was well known for her quick wit, talented piano playing and could "spin a yarn" like no other. Anyone who ever came into contact with her was left with the impression of a funny, passionate, loving woman who will never be forgotten. She was a long time member of Cedarlawn Baptist Church, teaching Sunday School for over 20 years and heading up almost every committee formed for many of the last 30 years. If there was ever any question about the church, procedure, flowers, etc. everyone knew to automatically call "Miss. Hazel". Hazel is survived by her children; Sara C. James, Clark H. James (Theresa) and Stan Jones, Jr.. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren; Ashlin Hart, Alicia James Croom, Joseph James and Heather James; her sisters, Bonnie (Kenny) Kindig, Lois Beasley, Opal McQueen and her very special friend Helen Armstrong, along with a whole host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are her nephews, Michael Kindig & Scott McQueen as well as Eagle Scouts from BSA Troop 400, Joseph James, Nathaniel Moore, Carl Shouppe and Jon Smidt. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm Monday, May 31, 2010 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Services will be held at 10am Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Dr. Charles Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. After the services at NAS, everyone is invited back to Creighton Road Baptist Church for fellowship. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Creighton Road Baptist Church building fund. Checks can be mailed to Creighton Road Baptist Church, 1507 Creighton Rd. Pensacola, FL 32504. HARPER-MORRIS MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.
