Helen P. Hill, 89, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017. Helen was born on August 7, 1927 in Birmingham, AL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.L. Hill; her parents, Sadie and Howard Phillips; her brother and sister-in-law, William and Villette Phillips; brother, Richard Phillips; her daughter, Betty Boucher; sister-in-law, Violet Phillips; and son-in-law, David Boucher.
Helen is survived by her sister, Betty Jo Puckett (Sidney); 3 daughters, Peggy LaPlant (Gene), Jenny Byrd (Greg), Missy Jones; and son, A. L. Hill, Jr. (Lucy); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her special feline friend, Ginger that would watch over her too.
Helen was a devoted member of Pine Forest Estates Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her Saviour Jesus Christ through reading her Bible and prayer daily.
Her childhood began in Birmingham, AL and she graduated from Ensley High School there. She lived in Memphis, TN; Pass Christian, MS and Panama City, FL before moving to Pensacola. She also spent time with family in Jacksonville, FL after retirement.
Helen was a housewife and devoted mother. Then after the loss of her spouse she started her career as a legal secretary. She worked for Attorney John Daniel, Panama City; Attorney/Judge Grover C. Robinson, Jr., Pensacola and other dedicated attorneys.
She enjoyed reading, baking, making ceramics and loved to make homemade gifts to give friends and family at Christmas. She collected lighthouses, angels, snowmen and penguins.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 6pm at Pine Forest Estates Baptist Church on Nine Mile Road in Pensacola. Pastor James Johnson will be officiating. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church, Pine Forest Estates Baptist Church; Covenant Care Hospice or the local Humane Society.
Special thanks are given to her family friend/caregiver, Karen Ballard that took excellent care of her for almost two years. Also, nurses Rachel Lyons, Kenny Blanton and volunteer, Mary Corboy with Covenant Care Hospice as well as the rest of the staff there that was always ready to help.
We will remember her beautiful smile, twinkling blue eyes, warm hugs and her heart full of love. We love and miss you Mom but know we shall see you again.
