Helen Marion Jones passed away November 6, 2017, in Pensacola Florida.
Helen was born in Manchester, Connecticut, to Rose and Stanley Mankus. She lived most of her life in Lake Worth, Florida, moving to Pensacola in her later years to be near her family.
Helen and her late husband Raymond Jones, a WWII Veteran and survivor, have two children, Gayle Griffin (Richard) and retired Air Force Colonel Dave Jones (Katrina). She is also survived by two grandchildren, Steven Griffin (Alexia), Michael Griffin (Frances) and three great grandchildren. She is survived by these family members and her two sisters Agnes Snipes and Joan Rowley.
Helen was a dedicated Registered Nurse for over 40 years. She graduated from Elliot Hospital Nursing School, New Hampshire in 1945. She practiced nursing in Manchester, Connecticut, and Palm Beach County, Florida. Helen was a member of the Florida Nurses Association and Elliot Hospital Alumnae Association. She was highly respected in her field and provided compassionate care to her patients. After retirement Helen enjoyed life to its fullest. She was an avid bridge player, gardener, and a champion Croquet player. Helen was an Ambassador for the National Croquet Association and played on the PGA National Croquet Team. These associations created many lasting friendships. Helen truly valued the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A funeral procession will leave Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 for a graveside service at Barrancas National Cemetery at 11:30 am.
