Helen Norma Mitchell (Davis), 97, of Pensacola Florida was born in Cuero, Texas. She passed on to her eternal home on Saturday July 21, 2018 after a brief illness. She was a lifelong, devoted, member of the Lutheran Church. As a young lady she was elected, and served, as President of the State of Texas Luther League (Lutheran Church youth organization.) She graduated from San Antonio High School in San Antonio, Texas, and married fellow Texan and Naval Officer, Clifton E. Mitchell in 1944. They had two sons, and moved to Miami Florida after WW II. She was a founding member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Miami Beach, FL, and served as Superintendent of the Sunday school.
She particularly loved and delighted in infants and toddlers, playing the piano, Bluebonnet flowers, pecan pralines and anything having to do with the State of Texas. As a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother she set the example for love of and selfless dedication to family, always there to help everyone in any way that she could. She was dearly loved and respected by all. She will be missed, and long remembered.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Clifton E. Mitchell, her two brothers, William H. Davis and Arthur D. Palmie, and her grandson, Thad Mitchell.
