Helen Johnson Smith, 90, of Pensacola, FL passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Helen was born in Birmingham, AL on June 27, 1923 to Pearl Blanche (Petty) and George Henry Johnson. She retired from the City of Pensacola. She was a member of the Daughter's of the Nile and First Baptist Church. She loved to travel. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Francis E. Smith, Sr.; son, Francis E. "Smitty" Smith, Jr.; sister, Christine Butterbaugh (John); sister, Margaret Govek (Frank) and brother, George H. Johnson. Survivors include her grandson, Jeff Smith (Terry); granddaughter, Jennifer Best (Robbie); great-grandson, Dalton Smith; daughter-in-law, Ginger Smith and brother, Billy Johnson (Beverly). Visitation will be held 1:00pm until the Funeral Service to begin at 2:00pm Monday, January 20, 2014 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Peggy Buelow and Rev. Marie Butterbaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Sacred Heart Hospital, the staff of University Pines and Covenant Hospice.
