IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Henry Gerald
Cassady
December 15, 1943 – November 2, 2023
Henry Cassady, 79 of Bagdad, FL entered God's Kingdom on Thursday, November 2, 2023. He died from complications of vascular dementia.
He was born on December 15, 1943, to Wynell and Henry Oliver Cassady. His father was killed in war in Italy when he was nine months old. Eventually his mother remarried, and Henry was reared by a good man Earlie Linzy, Jr.
Upon graduation from Jay High School, Henry joined the Army and served as a Paratrooper in the prestigious 101st Airborne. Upon being discharged from the Army, he returned home to Jay, FL and sought employment.
On July 27, 1965, Henry took the oath to become a Pensacola Police Officer. He had the personality and charisma to make friends no matter the situation. He was a natural fit for the job. Henry was the happiest in the street among his friends. He treated people right and was treated with respect. He did things "His Way," regardless and was willing to take the consequences both good and bad. The Police Department was his life, it was who he was. Truly an era has passed!
A few years after retirement, he happened into a new job that was a perfect fit. He started to work as a Youth Custody Officer. He was so happy once again being amongst his law enforcement family. Once more, he was in uniform and being a Police Officer. He did this for seven years and was named Officer of the Year for the State of Florida. He was an uncomplicated man. He was a man with simple taste who loved Levis, pick-up trucks, and a toothpick! He provided a good life for his immediate and extended family without worrying about himself. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive and love will be forever ingrained in our family.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister, Karen Harrelson.
Henry is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Julia; daughters, Dana (Sandee), Jerilyn (Mark), Tracey (John); one son, Jeremy (Chassidy); the joy of his life, his grandchildren, Cassady Hughes and Kenzie Hughes; sister, Sarah Davis and his cat, Black and White.
