Henry Edward Seiler, Jr., 76, of Pensacola, FL passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018.
Henry was born and raised in New Orleans, LA to the late Henry Edward Seiler, Sr. and Catherine Montalbano Seiler. It was in New Orleans with his father that Henry acquired his avid interest in roses. In 1971, Henry relocated to Pensacola, FL, and began a rose garden in which he experimented with various growing procedures. The garden expanded at one time to approximately 400 rose bushes. Henry Seiler, emeritus, was a member of the American Rose Society and a Charter member of the Pensacola Rose Society. He served, until recently, as consulting rosarian for the Pensacola Rose Society. Henry's education includes a master's degree in biology from the University of Southern Mississippi. For 40 years, he was a Professor at Pensacola Junior College (later to become, Pensacola State College). During this time, he instructed students in biology, anatomy and physiology, and microbiology.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Teresa Ann Presley Seiler.
Survivors include his two brothers, George Seiler (Diana) and John Seiler (Brenda); a sister, Sera Seiler Crumley (Bob); as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held 10:00am until a Funeral Mass at 11:00am Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1212 E. Moreno St., Pensacola, FL. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1300 E. Hayes St., Pensacola, FL.
