Herbert J. Dollar, 84, of Pensacola, FL went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 15, 2013. He was born on December 8, 1928 to Marie and Willie Blacman Dollar. He obtained a BA degree in History and Economics from Georgia State College in Atlanta, GA and was a member of the National Honor Fraternity, Phi Alpha Theta and Blue Key. He began his career with the Singer Sewing Machine Company as an Auditor then he was drafted into the Army for 2 years. He returned to the company advancing to the Retail Store Manager, District Manager and Sales Supervisor. Later he owned his own business and finished his career as an economist with the US Department of Labor. He is preceded in death by his parents and beloved grandparents, Maude and Andrew Dollar who raised him and his brother and sister in Climah, GA after the premature death of their mother. His sister, Joan Dollar Baldwin also preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Rosalie Gale Dollar; daughter, Mary Beth Dollar and son, David L. Dollar (Dari); five grandchildren, William Andrew "Drew" Grizzell, Jenna Grizzell, Sydney Dollar, Jackson Dollar and Danielle Dollar and a great-grandson, Grayson Grizzell; as well as his brother, Wayne Dollar (Odessa) and nephew, Michael Dollar. Memorial Visitation will be held 12:30pm until a Memorial Service to begin at 1:00pm Friday, August 2, 2013 at Darby Funeral Home Chapel in Canton, GA. Committal Service will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Homestead Village and Covenant Hospice for the care and kindness shown to Herbert and the support given to the family during the last week of his life. Also the family thanks the numerous people who comforted him and the family during his illness. God Bless!
