Howard L. Patterson Jr. 78, of Pensacola, FL., passed away unexpectedly at Sacred Heart Hospital on Sunday, October 29, 2023.

Howard was born to Mabel and Howard Patterson on September 9, 1945, in Darlington, N.C. After graduating from Tate High School in 1964, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Howard had a 46-year career as a utility construction inspector and retired from Emerald Coast Utilities Authority in 2014. In 1985 Howard married the love of his life, Teri Wilkerson Patterson, and had two sons, Travis Patterson, and Logan Patterson.

Howard was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but he had an enormous heart and was generous, loyal, and brave. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He could build or fix anything. Howard never missed his daily walk with his faithful canine companion, Reba. He will be remembered for his love for friends and family and for being the best "Pappy" ever.

Howard is preceded in death by his father, Howard Patterson; mother, Mabel Patterson, and sister, Linda Patterson Horton of Lexington, N.C.

Howard is survived by his wife, Teri Wilkerson Patterson; sons, Travis Patterson (Caray), and Logan Patterson (April); six grandchildren, Blakley, Lexie, Lizzie, Ryan, Kyle, and Morgan; sisters, Patricia Hodges of Lexington, N.C. and Nancy Williams of Lexington, N.C. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Howard's memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Monday, November 6, 2023 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.
