Howard Pilcher, 87, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018.
Howard was born in Ozark, AL, on March 19, 1931, but resided in Pensacola most of his life. He was a graduate of Laurel Hill, FL high school, served in the US Army, and then began his career as a barber which lasted for 65 years. He was one of 5 brothers who were barbers in Pensacola. In 1976 he and his younger brother, Frank, opened Pilcher's Barber Shop on John Carroll Drive, which his son, Jim, now owns.
He was for many years a member of Krewe of LaFitte and Karnival Kavaliers. His hobbies were fishing, gardening and being with his family and friends.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Elzie and Myrtie Pilcher; brothers, Fred, Harvey, and Bill Pilcher; and a sister, Betty Abramovic.
He is survived by his wife, Marion; daughter, Julie Papalardo (Dana); son, Jim Pilcher (Lynn); brother, Frank Pilcher (Peggy); and sister, Margaret Hurston.
Visitation will be held 10:30am followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30pm Monday, November 12, 2018 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Brandon Bures officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Tom Pilcher, Mike Pilcher, Rod Hurston, Jimmy Morgan, Jamie Allen, and Pat Gaal.
Honorary pallbearers will be his brother, Frank Pilcher; his brother-in-law, Louis Boudreaux; and his friends, Steve Knox and John Gaffney.
Flowers will be accepted or please make contributions to one of your favorite charities.
