IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Howard Homer
Preston
July 13, 1929 – February 27, 2023
Howard Homer Preston, 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2023.
He was born July 13, 1929, in Chicago, IL, to John Tate Preston and Matilda Audette Preston. Howard was the middle child of nine. He grew up in Gulfport, MS, until the family moved to Pensacola in 1941. He and his best buddy, Ronnie Batten, enjoyed swimming, fishing, hunting, and skipping school. Theirs was a lifelong friendship. Howard joined the Army in 1948, and while stationed in Germany, he met and fell in love with Lilo Marschner. They married in 1949 and were married for 53 years when Lilo passed away in 2002. Howard was an electrician by trade, but he could fix just about anything like the other Preston men and women in his family. He worked at the Naval Air Rework Facility (NARF) until his retirement in 1990.
A Catholic, Howard was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member. He and Lilo enjoyed the many friends they made during their years of involvement.
Howard is survived by his daughter, Susan Thompson (Clayt) of Tallahassee, FL; son, Ron Preston (Tina) of Pensacola, FL; a brother, Richard Preston (Cheryl); a sister, Janet Feallock (Joe); as well as many nieces and nephews.
Howard and his family would like to thank those whose friendship allowed him to live at home until his passing, Jack and Lenora Nelson, Joe and Marianne DeGrado, and Diva and Ashley Holloway. Their kindness and generosity are truly appreciated.
At Howard's request, no services are to be held. His ashes will be placed with his wife at Barrancas National Cemetery.
