Hunter James Pfeiffer, age 84, of Pensacola, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021.
Hunter was born in Pensacola, FL to the late Walter Herbert and Marguerite Skotzky Pfeiffer on June 24, 1937. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Marguerite Romond and two brothers, Herbert and John Pfeiffer.
Hunter was a devoted husband and loving father who was a lifelong resident of Pensacola and a longtime member of Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Parish. He proudly served his country in the United States Army after graduating in 1960 from Auburn University with a Bachelors Degree. He spent thirty-three years working as a probation and parole officer for the State of Florida before retiring in 2000. Hunter enjoyed many hobbies; he especially had a talent for refinishing and restoring old wood furniture and tending to his beautiful rose garden.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his devoted and loving wife of 54 years, Mary Jo Owsley Pfeiffer; his two sons, Hunter Philip and James Charles Pfeiffer; a brother, Philip A. Pfeiffer; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held 5:00pm-7:00pm Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, a rosary will be prayed at 6:00pm.
A funeral mass will be held 10:00am Thursday, December 16, 2021, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, with Msgr. Michael V. Reed, celebrant.
A committal service will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery following the Funeral Mass with Military honors being accorded by the United States Army.
