Obituary

Irene Anna Mandy Carannante, age 92, of Pensacola, went home to be with the Lord on April 30, 2021. Irene was born on January 26, 1929 in Berehovo, Czech Republic to the late Alexander and Irene Krivecsky Mandy and was raised in New York City. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Domenico J. Carannante and a son, Louis A. Carannante.

Irene was a devoted, beautiful and elegant wife and mother for 56 years and will be missed by all who knew her. She married the love of her life, Domenico Jack Carannante, in 1949. They lived many happy years together until his death in 2006.

Irene was an avid shopper and had a keen eye for color coordination. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved to travel. She felt strongly about the importance of keeping up with political news and current events, she loved her country and loved to talk politics. She attended St. John's University in New York for two years where she obtained her Associates Degree. She spent time as a homemaker, a New York Bell Supervisor and a realtor for 12 years in Pensacola, FL.

Irene was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Pensacola for 50 years. She enjoyed serving her community and was a member of several groups here locally; Deanery of Catholic Women, the Woman's Study Group, of St. Mary's, Women for Responsible Legislation and volunteered at Alpha Center.

Those left to cherish her memory include, her daughter, Irene M. Carannante, of Pensacola, FL; a brother, Joseph A. Mandy (Linda), of Naples, FL; a sister-in-law, Julia Illiano (Andrew), of Springhill, FL; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 401 Van Pelt LN, Pensacola, with Fr. Eugene Pathe, Celebrant. An inurnment service will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.

Wearing a mask for Mass is a  requirement at St. Mary Cathoilc Church. Thank you in advance for helping us keep everyone safe.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Olive Branch Rehabilitation Center for the love and care shown to Irene during her time there.
