Irene "Rene" Marie O'Sullivan Sartwell Mizell, 82, of Pensacola, FL, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015.
Irene "Rene" was born in Dublin, Ireland, Dublin County on April 4, 1933. Her hobbies included reading, crochet and knitting. Irene "Rene" was a member of the Council of Catholic Women, EASE (Escambia Aides Service and Education), Committee of Volunteer, and was a School Nurse and Lunchroom Volunteer.
Irene "Rene" would not take any GUP from anybody, especially in the care of AIDS patients. She got the job done pronto. Irene "Rene" loved to make people laugh and she was a rebel. She would say or do things to shock everyone to see what their reaction was. Irene "Rene" "Nanna" was a very loving, giving mother and nanna.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Paddy and Annie O'Sullivan; sisters, Rita Carpenter and Maura O'Sullivan; brothers, infant Fred and Paddy O'Sullivan.
Irene "Rene" is survived by her husband, James R. Mizell; son, Frederick Sartwell (Cindy); daughters, Sharon Harris (Mark) and Ann Marie Telhiard (Chris); sisters, Ann Moulton (Ray) and Sheila Fagan (John); granddaughters, Catherin (Dan), Megan and Desiree; great grandchildren, Samantha, Jordan and Conner and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 5-7pm Friday, December 4, 2015 with a Rosary prayed at 5pm from Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart with Msgr. Michael Reed celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Hill, Daniel Storey, Mike Bowers, Mark Harris, Chris Telhiard, Benjamin Nettles and Carl Colna.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff with Emerald Coast Hospice for their excellent care and loving support they provided.
