Iris Clark Coker Holt, 90, of Pensacola, FL died Saturday, November 4, 2017, in Bradenton, FL. Born on April 25, 1927, in Beauford County, NC to George W. and Bertha C. Clark; she was the youngest of 6 children.
Iris was raised in Burnsville, NC by George and Floy Anglin. She graduated from Burnsville High School in 1944, where she played basketball. She attended East Carolina Teachers College in Greenville, NC.
In 1949, Iris married Pensacola dentist and First Baptist Church member, Dr. William H. Coker, Jr. to whom she was a devoted wife and helpmate until his death in 1978. She had a loving second marriage to Henry Holt, Jr. beginning in 1993 until his death in 2003. Iris is the former owner and operator of Resthaven Gardens Cemetery, a calling for her to serve others.
Iris is preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Glayde Clark Linton; husbands, William H. Coker, Jr. and Henry Holt, Jr.; an infant daughter; as well as her siblings, Eula, Orville, Curtis and Charles Clark, Nina Powell and Linda Heekin.
She is survived by daughters Libby Coker Maginness (Michael) of Bradenton, Linda Coker of Milton and grandson Clay Maginness of Parrish, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 1-3 pm Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 10:30 am Monday, November 13, 2017, at Warrington United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
The family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Warrington Methodist Church children's program or to Ridgecrest Summer Camps' Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 279, Ridgecrest, NC 28770.
