Obituary

Ivy Beresford Modjeski, 82, died Thursday, May 25, 2017 peacefully after battling colon cancer, with loved one's by her side, giving her beautiful soul up to our Lord God and Jesus.

She was born in Paterson, NJ to Peter and Bertha Argentero, confirmed member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Patterson, NJ. She attended Lodi High School and where she was accompanist to music program for four years.

She was an accomplished pianist learning to play piano at age 6, which led her to pursue a teaching degree at Trenton States Teacher's College.

Ivy met and married her soul mate, Lt. Col. Robert L. Modjeski, USMC in Washington, DC where they shared 37 years of musical interests, through symphony, theater and members of St. Luke's Episcopal Church (Wellington, VA) choir and where Ivy directed the Children's choir. The two were world

travelers, venturing to 6 of the seven continents of the world multiple times, always eager to share their experiences and history of them with others.

After a 30 year career as a Mortgage Loan Officer in Northern, VA, she and her husband elected to spend their golden years in sunny Pensacola where they became members of Christ Episcopal Church.

Ivy was an active member of the Newcomers' Club, ECW, Pensacola Choral Society and assistant to Children's Choir of Christ Church.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, cooking and bridge. Ivy always had a positive encouraging word and infectious smile for everyone she met. As a volunteer in the 1970's in Mt Vernon, VA, she taught the English language to Cambodia refugees. Ever the patriot, inspiring and strong, full of love, generosity, devotion, determination and always willing to listen and comfort those in need.
