Jacquelynn Hendershott, age 94, passed away on October 16, 2025, at Azalea Trace Retirement Community in Pensacola, FL. Jackie was born to William S. Vizzini and Catherine Yost Vizzini in New Orleans, LA.
She graduated from Eleanor McMain High School in 1948 and Sophie Newcomb College of Tulane University in 1952 where she earned a B.A. degree with honors in Psychology. She was later employed as Student Activities Director at Charity Hospital School of Nursing. She married Charles Wightman Hendershott from Montreal, Quebec, Canada on May 12,1955 at Canal Street Presbyterian Church in New Orleans. In 1960 they moved to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada where American Cyanamid transferred Charles and later to Pointe Claire, Quebec for three years, and then back to the Niagara area for 2 years; a total of 14 years resided in Canada. She was employed with Niagara College of Applied Arts and Technology as Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Community Education in Welland, Ontario in 1973-1974. They later resided in Kennebunk, ME, for 17 years and spent summers at the Hendershott cottage on Gun Lake, MI. Wherever she lived, Jackie was involved in leadership roles with museums and other community organizations.
Jackie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Edmund Pixberg.
Survivors include daughters Lindsey Windrow (James), Anne Hendershott; granddaughters Ashley Windrow (Ben Bleiberg), Brittany Windrow and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Azalea Trace Auditorium, with Rev. Frank Beall officiating.
A Committal Service for Mr. and Mrs. Hendershott's cremated remains will be held at 11:30am on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Barrancas National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to Meet at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, we will depart in Cortege to the cemetery at 11:00am.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Pensacola or to a charity of one's choice.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the many staff members at Azalea Trace and the very caring Emerald Coast Hospice staff for their compassionate care.
