James "Jim" B. Sherrouse, 88, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. Jim was born on December 17, 1928 in New Orleans, LA.

He attended Tulane University in New Orleans. He received his Naval Aviator's Wings in Pensacola in November, 1953 and graduated from US Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey, CA in 1960 with a BS in Nautical Engineering. Jim spent a total of 30 years on active duty serving as a P-5 and P-3 Pilot/Plane Commander, Flight instructor and other assignments. He retired as a Commander in June 1980. After his naval career, he again retired after 24 years as a Stormwater Engineer, with the DEP, State of Florida.

His hobbies included boating, gardening, fishing, scuba diving, fitness, photography and was an avid Saints fan.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Emma Sherrouse; his brother, Julian Sherrouse, Jr. and a sister, Jane Wilkerson.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Sherrouse and daughter, Lisa Sherrouse of Pensacola; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Tom Hyslop of Fenton, MI; granddaughters, Lauren (Adam) Heleine and Caroline Hyslop also of Fenton, MI and several cousins, along with Phyllis's beloved family members and his beloved and pampered pup, "Lily".

Visitation will begin at 11:00am Monday, January 23, 2017 with Funeral services beginning at 12:00pm (noon) at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Burial follows at Barrancas National Cemetery at 1:00pm with full military honors.
