James “Jim” Edward Dewine, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the age of 94 years old in Pensacola.

Jim was born in Cleveland, OH. to the late Edward J. and Eileen Claire Finnegan Dewine. He graduated from Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL. in 1953. Jim then went on to spend two years serving honorably in the U.S. Army, 4th Armored Division.

He then spent the next sixteen years at Dow Chemical, where he specialized in flexible packaging sales. His department was then sold to American Can Co. where he spent the next twenty-five years, retiring as a National Account Manager in 1998.

In Pensacola he volunteered at Sacred Heart Hospital and was president of the Mother Seton Guild for many years. Jim was a member of Our Lady of The Assumption Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and also volunteered at the Alfred Washburn Center for the homeless.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Joy Dewine; his son, John P. Dewine; his sister, Winifred Ann Dewine Monaghan; and his brother-in-law, James Monaghan.

Those left to cherish his memory include, his two daughters, Kathleen “Kathy” A. Zima (Michael), of Pensacola, FL, and Karen J. Feledy (John), of Cincinnati, OH; four grandchildren, Darby J. Dewine (Amy), Claire M. Dewine, John D. III, and Joseph R. Feledy; his great grandson, Pierce J. Dewine; and daughter -in-law, Julie Dewine, of Woodlands, TX. As well as many cherished friends he made at the Arbors of Gulf Breeze.
